The Department of Archaeology & Museums (DOAM), operating under the National Heritage & Culture Division, is the apex federal body entrusted with the discovery, documentation, scientific conservation, restoration, and public presentation of Pakistan’s tangible cultural heritage spanning over 5,000 years. From the ancient Indus Valley Civilization sites to Gandhara, Islamic-era monuments, and colonial-period museums, DOAM safeguards more than 50 declared protected heritage sites and runs several national-level museums and galleries.
